He was predeceased by: his parents, John H. Joost and Mathilda Lakeman Joost; and his siblings, Adolf Joost, Ferd Joost, Martin Joost, Elmer Joost, LeRoy Joost, Walter Joost, Mada Dudenbostel, Clara Degener and Ann Schaack.

He is survived by: his wife Lila Joost of Steeleville; his children, Terri Stevenson (Rick) of Campbell Hill and Kevin Joost (Jamie) of Red Bud, IL; his grandchildren, Shane Stevenson (Kassidy), Cole Stevenson (Amy), Adrianne Webb and Tristan Joost (Amanda); and his great grandchildren, Logan Stevenson, Jolene Stevenson, Mason Stevenson and Hudson Stevenson.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 12th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Peace Lutheran Church (303 N Mulberry St, Steeleville, IL 62288). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 12th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
