Adele Lucille McDonnell Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Adele Lucille McDonnell of Sterling, Illinois, who passed away on April 30, 2026, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Alex Novak and Lucille Novak (Rutkiewicz); and her sister Elaine Guzzo (Arthur G. McDonnell). She is survived by: her children, Michael (Karen Carter) of Raleigh, N. C., Michelle Grunauer (James) of Sterling, Mark McDonnell (Joan) of Florence, AZ and Molly Dir (Bruce) of Mundelein, IL; her brother-in-law John Guzzo of Worthington, OH; her grandchildren, Lindsay Bley, Leah Herman, Sean McDonnell, Ian Dir, Charlie Dir, Sophie Dir, Katie Meyer, Jenny McDonnell and Sydney McDonnell; and her great grandchildren, Brooklyn Grunauer, Georgia Mae Herman, Eli Herman, Chiara Herman, Noah Bley, Caleb Bley and Henry Meyer.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (2224 Ave J, Sterling, IL 61081). A celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 15th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
A memorial has been established to Rock River Hospice & Home.
