It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Irene J. Barton of Sterling, Illinois, born in Alicia, Arkansas, who passed away on June 27, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Townsley and Willie Mae Townsley (Barner); her daughter Linda Barton; and her siblings, Willene Hicks, R. F. Townsley, Homer Townsley and William Leon Townsley.
She is survived by: her husband Eligh Barton, Sr.; her children, Judie Long (Walter) of Rock Falls, Karen Kramer (Myron) of Sterling, Shelia Bennecke of Sterling, Jerry Barton (Barbara) of Rock Falls, Richard Barton (Deb) of Sterling and Eligh Barton, Jr. of Dixon; and her sister Mary Stewart of Moline. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and numerous great, great grandchildren.
