He was predeceased by: his parents, John Persona and Isabelle Persona (Weber); and his grandson-in-law Joe Ellis. He is survived by: his wife Frances Royer; his children, Kathy Henson (Ron) of Sterling, Kris Austin (Arnold) of Sterling, John D. Persona of Nachusa, Kelly McCormick (Mike) of Batavia and Steve Persona (Eva) of Dixon; his grandchildren, Steven Roy Persona, Amber Hoskins and Elaina Ellis; and his great grandchildren, Huntley Dean, Nathan Britt, Jayce Ellis and Emalyn Ellis.
Memorials may be made in his memory to Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling.
