It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Ludger Thuente of Sterling, Illinois, born in Fort Atkinson, Iowa, who passed away on May 23, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Thuente and Edwina Thuente (Lechtenberg); his wife Lynne; and his siblings, Virgil Thuente, Lambert Thuente, Lucille Holthaus, Arlene Thuente, Marlin Thuente, Rose Ann Gussy and Marie Thuente.

He is survived by: his children, Lisa Burton of Omaha, NE, Kevin Thuente (Kimberly) of Morris and Ross Thuente of Sterling; his siblings, Anita Tieskoetter, Joseph Thuente, Sylvan Thuente and Kathleen Nelson; and his grandchildren, Jacob Thuente, Paige Thuente, Tyler Thuente (Valerie), Kendra Dryfhout (Mason) and Sydney Thuente. He is also survived by three great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Optimist Club of Sterling.
