He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert R. Fortney and Joyce Fortney (Bellars). He is survived by: his wife Stella F. Castaneda; his sons, Kelly Fortney (Beth Motsinger) and Ryan Fortney (Laura); his grandchildren, Olivia Fortney, Emma Westenhaver (Chris), Evelynn, Brynlee and Delaney Fortney; his great grandchild Silas Westenhaver; and his brothers, Steve Fortney (Rose) and Patrick Fortney (DeeDee).
Visitation was held on Friday, May 23rd 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the McDonald Funeral Home (505 1st Ave, Sterling, IL 61081). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, May 23rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary Catholic Church (600 Avenue B, Sterling, IL 61081).
