He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Hess and Gladys Hess (Witmer); his sister Marcia Boyd; and his granddaughter Megan Fitzgerald. He is survived by: his wife Maria Hess of Sterling; his daughters, Paula Mullen (Ken) of Kenosha, WI, Melissa Fitzgerald of Columbia, TN and Tracy Rivera (Daniel) of Sycamore; his siblings, Carolyn Fritz (Dennis) of Dixon, Marianne Johnson (David) of Mendota Heights, MN, Allan Hess (Pam) of Dixon and Grant Hess (Sandy) of Waterman; his aunt Alice Ebersole of Dixon; his brother-in-law Gordon Boyd (Cheri Boyd); his grandchildren, Michael Mullen, Nathan Mullen, Aidan Mullen, Tyler Fitzgerald (Becca), Sarah Freeman (Austin), Mary Rivera and Maya Rivera; and his great grandchild Levi Fitzgerald. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to .....St. Vincent DePaul, Rock River Hospice and Home, Sterling Kiwanis and St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling.
