She was predeceased by: her parents, Royal Edward and Francis Dott Rankin (Bland); her former husband Henry T. Bales; her husband Tom Rentfro; her children, James Bales, Patricia Lading and Janet Schultz; her grandchildren, Angie Schultz, Brandi Wittenberg and Allen Bales; her siblings, Eugene Rankin, Allen Rankin and Isabel Howard; and her children-in-law, Annabelle Bales, Melba Bales and David Baumgarten.

She is survived by: her children, Edward Bales of Florida, Carol Baumgarten of Stewardson, Richard Bales (Peg) of Effingham, Danny Bales (Pam) of Jackson and Loyd Rentfro of Idaho. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
