He was predeceased by: his parents, John E. Wittenberg and Edith Wittenberg (Pfeiffer); his parent-in-law Verena Brumleve; his grandchildren, Edie and Andrew Wittenberg; and his siblings-in-law, Mary Jo Schulte, Gene Schulte and Jim Jansen.
He is survived by: his wife Judy of Strasburg; his children, John "Barry" Wittenberg (Courtney Hooten) of Strasburg and Sara Hayes (Kenneth) of Stewardson; his grandchildren, Jordan, Austin, Ellie Wittenberg, Hannah, Natalie, Samantha and Kendra Hayes; and his siblings-in-law, Kay Jansen of Effingham, Pat Brumleve (Charlie) of Effingham and Don Brumleve (Joan) of Dieterich. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the St Paul Lutheran Church (511 Walnut St, Strasburg, IL 62465). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at the Saint Paul's Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to The Edie Jane Foundation or St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
