He was predeceased by: his parents, Irl Richards and Agnes Richards (Schunke); his son Jerry Lee Richards; and his sisters, Penny Lou Best and Mary Ann Richards.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia "Pat" Richards of Streator; his daughter Teri Bradley (Tim) of Streator; his grandchildren, Jamie Williamson (Pete) of Streator, Kristie Finney (Dave) of Streator, Tom Bradley (Kayla) of Streator and Tana Danko (Daniel) of Streator; his great grandchildren, Matt and Mara Williamson; his grandchildren, Layton, Ava Finney, Bradlee, Lyla and Wynder Danko; and his sister Darlene Buchanan of Streator. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
