He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlotte Placek (Frederick) and Lewis Placek; his former wife Margaret (Kleinfieldt); and his pets, Guinness and Finnegan.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Theisen; his daughters, Theresa Churchill (Mark), Jody Lowe (Jim) and Tina Pelot (Marc); his stepsons, Tim Theisen (Julie), Jeff Theisen (Cindy) and Brian Theisen (Tammy); his grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas, Margaret Churchill, Tanner, Riley Brown, Olivia Pelot, Jeremy (Heather), Jake (Megan), Ashley and Eric Theisen; and his stepsons, Abbi Ruiz (Chris) and Felice Harris (Scott). He is also survived by many friends and loving family members.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Healy Chapel (370 Division Dr, Sugar Grove, IL 60554). A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church (8S055 Dugan Rd, Sugar Grove, IL 60554).
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Edward Hines VA Center or the Anderson Humane Wildlife Center.
