With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Edna Christine (Chris) Carrell of Sullivan, Illinois, who passed away on January 16, 2026 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Donald Whitaker and Hazel Whitaker (Thompson); her former husband Kenneth W. Gordon; her husband John C. Carrell; her son Michael Gordon; her sisters, Pauline Callahan and Julia Rhodes; and her stepgrandson Trent Myers.
She is survived by: her daughter Carol Myers (Michael) of Moweaqua, IL; her stepson John Charles Carrell (Dianna) of Pahrump, NV; her daughter-in-law Melissa Gordon of Mattoon, IL; her grandchildren, Erin Goss Ingraham (Steve), Dory Gordon (Samie Heidemann), Kenny Gordon (Alyssa), Brianna Sehring (Ryan), Nicholas Myers (Vanessa Shackelford), Carter Gordon (Maci Harmon) and Carson Klein (Will); her stepgrandchildren, Travis Myers, Jaclyn Winter (Chris) and Stephanie Carrell; her great grandchildren, Oliver and Violet Sehring; and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Alexia Niebrugge (Jacob), Braedon Myers, Josalynn and Brandon Winter. She is also survived by one aunt; cousins; and several nieces and nephews.
After John died, Chris joined the Young at Heart Singers who sang at area nursing homes until recently when Alzheimer's Disease made that no longer possible.
