Luella K. Hughes Obituary
With solemn reverence, we commemorate Luella K. Hughes of Sullivan, Illinois, whose life came to an end on July 22, 2025 at the age of 76, leaving behind cherished memories. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
As we bid adieu to Luella's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in her wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration Luella has bequeathed us. For though she may have departed from our sight, her spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert'Bob' Hughes and Joan Matheson Hughes; and her brother Arthur Hughes. She is survived by: her siblings, Barbara Hughes of Mattoon, Bill Hughes of Sullivan and Jim Hughes (Katrina) of Sullivan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Reed Funeral Home (1112 S Hamilton St, Sullivan, IL 61951). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. Luella was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), participated in the Sullivan Pencil Pal Program for 2nd graders for over 20 years, was a member of the Sullivan American Legion Auxiliary and the Sullivan VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed league bowling at Sullivan and Decatur.
Memorials are suggested to the Sullivan Ambulance Service or the Sullivan Weekend Food Pac Program.
