He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Richard E. Mathias and Joan Hoagland Mathias; and his sister-in-law Nancy Mathias. He is survived by: his children, Rachel Nowlin (Wes) of Cumming, Georgia, Jonathan Mathias of Yuma, Anna Mathias of Sullivan, Joann Mathias of Sullivan and Mikayla Mathias of Sullivan; his siblings, Richard Mathias of Arcola, Christine Wells (Darrel) of Sullivan and Karen Jones (Roger) of Decatur; and his grandsons, Skylar Nowlin and Lane Nowlin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
