She was predeceased by: her husband James M. Elder; her granddaughter Lori Mikesell; her great grandchild Keaton Dippel; and her sisters, Wanda Ingle and Delores Sell.
She is survived by: her daughters, Jeannine Blythe (Kevin) of Atlanta and Janet Dirks (Greg) of Sullivan; her grandchildren, Nanette Mathews (Keith) of Atlanta, Leslie Masterson (Sean) of Marion, Josh Brown (Michele) of Clinton, Chelsey Dirks (Mark Palahniuk) of Sullivan and Samantha Dippel (Eric) of Buckley, Illinois; and her great grandchildren, Gabriella Dippel, Blade, Summer, Chuck Mathews, Colton, Cameran, Gracie Bradshaw, Josie, Rowan Mikesell, Emily, Jillian, Ellie Grace, Anna Mei, Molly, Cullen Masterson, Emmett and Avarie Brown.
Shirley was a member of the Windsor First Methodist Church, Sullivan Womens Civic Club, Mattoon Eagles, Sullivan RSVP and was a mentor for the Sullivan Elementary School Reading Program.
Memorials are suggested to the Sullivan Elementary School Reading Program or Town Square Hospice, Monticello, Illinois.
