He was predeceased by: his daughters, Estela Melendez and Alejandra Espada (Jose); and his sibling Guadalupe. He is survived by: his spouse Guadalupe Cintora; his children, Sonia Villarreal (Gustavo), Roberto Melendez and Anna Melendez; his grandchildren, Isabella, Jose, Luciana and Zadkiel; and his siblings, Arturo, Miguel, Raul, Victoria, Carmen, Maria Elena and Josefina.
