It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elaine Faye Mathewson of Sutter, Illinois, who passed away on April 27, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Ray and Nellie Mae Neill (Prather); her husband George James Mathewson; her son-in-law Robert Gerhardt; her sisters, Wylda Steinkuhler and Helen Ruffcorn; her brothers-in-law, Leroy Steinkuhler and Lester Ruffcorn; and her niece Sue Ruffcorn.
She is survived by: her children, Marcia Mathewson of Sutter, Rodney Mathewson of Springfield, Cheryl Gerhardt of Mendon, Randy Mathewson of Sutter and Rob Mathewson of St. Charles, Missouri; her grandchildren, Alyssa Craven (Joe), Aaron Gerhardt, Alayna Crile (Kallin), Alicyn Gerhardt, Elizabeth Moore (Corban) and Eleanor "Ella" Mathewson; her great grandchildren, James, Harrison Craven and Waylon Moore; and her nieces, Sharon "Sheri" Renner (Buddy) and Joyce Whitaker (D. J.).
Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army in Keokuk or Sutter Salem Bible Church.
