He was predeceased by : his parents, Theodore Bird and Zella Bird (Caldwell); his siblings, Donnie Bird, Teddy Bird and Shirley Segelhorst; and his nephew Larry Segelhorst.

He is survived by : his wife Shirley Bird of Swanwick, IL; his daughters, Rhonda Noel (Raymond) of Nashville, IL, Theresa Thies (Paul) of Swanwick, IL and Katie Koen (Jason) of Steeleville, IL; his brother Toby Bird (Denise) of Swanwick, IL; his grandchildren, Matthaus "Matt" Harre (Danielle) of Nashville, IL, Jonathan "Jon" Harre (Chelsea Stockwell) of Nashville, IL, Kary Hargis of Steelville, IL, Leah Thies (Devin Kitchen) of St. Louis, MO and Matthew Carley (Sarah) of Champaign, IL; and his great grandchildren, Jackson Harre, Emmalynn Harre, Logan Harre, Juliette Harre, Jonathan Carley, Issac Carley and Lily Carley.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church (2338 Mountain Lion Rd, Pinckneyville, IL 62274). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
