He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Carls and Lois Carls; his brothers, James Carls and Thomas Carls; his son-in-law Pete Bernardoni; and his stepson Scott Morrasy.
He is survived by: his wife Diana Carls; his sister Cindy Carls; his children, Tad Carls (Laurie) of Florida and Robin Bernardoni of California; and his stepdaughters, Shelly Ruby (Jay) and Beth Haeffner (Roger). He is also survived by Four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and fourteen step-great grandchildren.
