He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester and Gladys; his siblings, Dewel, Doyle, Curtis and Allene; and his son-in-law Jim Ciechna.

He is survived by: his sisters, Joyce, Sue and Peggy; his wife Gerri; his children, Alan (Shellee) of Northport, Ala., Lance (Faith) of Sycamore, Tammy Diehl of Sycamore, Janis Baumann (Brad) of Janesville, Wis and Jolene Ciechna of Sycamore; his grandchildren, Bryce Sandy, Zack, Derek Sandy, Alexander Ciechna, Caitlin Ciechna, Cody Baumann of Janesville, Lauren Holtz (Jacoby) and Lindsey Diehl; and his great grandchildren, Kinley and Kade.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family.

“Gerri and family, so sad that Julius left us. Thought he was tough and going to hold on a few more years. I will miss our occasional phone calls bringing back long ago memories, some not so good.....Julius was another one of those brilliant people that perhaps never finished his great potential. He was one smart dude from Bessemer, Alabama, a place he really loved and missed, I think. All (4) brothers are gone now. So sad, God Bless. Sister Sue.”
