He was predeceased by: his parents, John Roland and Grace Roland (McMartin); and his siblings, Joyce Thornton, Dale, Charles, John and Glenn Roland.
He is survived by: his wife Bette Roland (Benson); his children, William Roland Jr. (Nancy) and Deborah Griswold (Ralph); his grandchildren, Aaron Roland, Courtney Roland, Heather Griswold and Emily Mols; his great grandchildren, Julia, Michael, Charlotte, Grace, James, Lotus and Eli; his brother Donald Roland; and his brother-in-law Robert Stanbery. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Fairview Park Cemetery (1600 S 1st St, DeKalb, IL 60115).
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his name to the Salvation Army.
