He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Ames and Laila Ames (DeFord); and his brother Wendell Ames. He is survived by: his son Gary Ames (Sherry Davenport) of Table Grove; his grandchildren, Jesse Ames, Stephanie Friday (Jerry), Mackie Davenport (Bonnie) and Kenny Davenport (Amber); and his sister Bernita Arnett of Table Grove. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Table Grove Fire and Rescue Squad.
