He was predeceased by: his parents, Jimmie Hill and Ruth Hill (Lively); and his brother-in-law Dennis Welch. He is survived by: his wife Verna Jean Downen; his children, John Hill (Lisa) of Willisville, Beth Hill of Pinckneyville and Barb Stevenson (Jerid) of Pinckneyville; his grandchildren, Kim, Rick Czapla, Brandi, Tim Tatum, Brittany Hughs, Zane, Amia Bruce, Kira Bruce, Elih Bruce, Lindsey, Jordan Kinder, Brian, Hannah Taylor, Lauren Stevenson, Audrey Stevenson, Ki'Yaan Stevenson and David Stevenson; his great grandchildren, Kelsey, Hailey, Josie, Daisey, Sydney, Alex, Andy, Holly, Waylon, Lillian and Hank; his great great grandchild Brinlee; and his siblings, Jimmie Hill (Tammy) of Tamaroa and Kathy Welch of Tamaroa. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Searby Funeral Home (107 S Walnut St, Tamaroa, IL 62888). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Friends may make memorials to Antioch Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
