John Belk Obituary

We announce the death of John Belk of Taylorville, Illinois, who passed away on July 11, 2026, at the age of 68. John will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis W. Belk and Barbara J. Belk (Walter); his daughter Jeannie M. Smith (Belk); and his sister-in-law Susan Belk. He is survived by: his wife Luenda "Lu" Belk of Taylorville, IL; his children, James Matich (Alysia) of Niantic, IL, Angela Gillespie (Al) of Vinton, VA and Amanda Belk of Kincaid, IL; his grandchildren, Erik Matich of Niantic, IL, Ethan Gillespie, Joseph, Dawson, Timothy Gillespie, Quentin Smith (Jessica), Gavin Smith of Taylorville, IL, Alexis Smith of Sherman, IL, Colt Belk of Taylorville, IL and Nathaniel Belk of Kincaid, IL; his brother Dennis Belk of Springfield, IL; and his pets, Diesel, Harper (family: Ed, Becky Cleeton) and Cleeton. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
