He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ann Reid Schmidt; his son Jason (Denise) of Taylorville; his grandchildren, Kyle (Mary) of Morrisonville and Jackson (Layne) of Creve Coeur; his great grandchild Raelynn of Morrisonville; and his siblings, Diane, Doris and Mick. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Taylorville American Legion Post 73 (110 W Franklin St, Taylorville, IL 62568).
