He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene L. Gillespie and Bertha Gillespie Pruemer (Nosbisch); and his stepfather Roger Pruemer. He is survived by: his children, Matt Gillespie (Maria) of Gurnee, Kelly Chapman (Bryan) of Alton and Laura Gillespie of Effingham; his grandchildren, Ella Chapman, Leo and Ethan Gillespie; and his brothers, Steven Gillespie (Sandra) of Teutopolis and Dennis Gillespie (Sharon) of Teutopolis.

Memorial donations may be given to the American Kidney Fund.
