He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard O. Wente and Martha P. Wente (Hartke); and his brother Michael Wente. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Wente (Roepke); his children, Michelle Miller (Jason), Melissa Broeringmeyer (David), Brian Wente (Karen), Brad Wente (Kelsey), Megan McClellan (Jacob), Bruce Wente (Jill) and Brock Wente (Nicole); his siblings, Victoria Draves (David), Chris Wente, Patrick Wente (Sharon), Gloria Pruemer (Dale), Monica Emmerich (John), Valentine Wente and Matthew Wente; and his sister-in-law Joyce E. Wente. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bauer Funeral Home (1212 W Evergreen Ave, Effingham, IL 62401). A rosary will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (203 E Main St, Teutopolis, IL 62467). A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at the St. Francis Cemetery (291-305 W Cemetery Rd, Teutopolis, IL 62467).
