She was predeceased by : her parents, Henry Wessel and Elizabeth Wessel (Funneman); her husband Hank; her son Alan; and her siblings, Bernard Wessel (Barney), Marie Wessel, Isabel Merz (Cletus), Roseann Walk (Lloyd), Julia Walk (Morris) and Marge of Sister Theodora, O. S. F..

She is survived by : her children, Marla Bushur of Effingham, LeAnn Buening (Mike) of Teutopolis and Bryan Hawickhorst (Inez Wilson) of St. Peters, MO; her grandchildren, Jeremy Bushur (Ariella Ibarra) of Edwardsville, Kelly Heuerman (Woody) of Teutopolis, Jessica Brasel (Justin) of Edwardsville, Michael Buening (Jamie Zerrusen) of Teutopolis, Amanda Brim (Nick Robbins) of Branson, MO and Billy Hawickhorst (Samantha Ganninger) of St. Peters, MO; and her brother Theodore "Ted" Wessel of Jacksonville. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be given to the Effingham County Humane Society.
