She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Louise and Elbert Morris Leighty; her aunts, Maude and Beulah; and her daughter Amy Schultheis.

She is survived by: her husband David Schultheis of Teutopolis; her children, Kristi Esker (Matt) of Teutopolis and Michael Schultheis of Effingham; her grandchildren, Benjamin and Stella Esker of Teutopolis; and her pets, Frosty and Einstein.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to either the TEF (Teutopolis Educational Foundation) or the Effingham County Humane Society.
