He was predeceased by: his parents, Ken Starr and Arlene Starr (Potter); his wife Kay Nelson; his granddaughter Wrenlee; and his siblings, Randy, Steve and Kimberly.
He is survived by: his children, Dawn Huizenga (Gary) of Albany, Tiffiny Dauen (Kevin) of Fulton and Tanner Shear (Abby) of Morrison, Illinois; his stepdaughter RaeAnn Strack (Kyle); his grandchildren, Drake, Weston, Camden, Cassie, Alicea, Chelsea and Alexis; his sisters, Cathy Green (Marv) of Mt. Carroll, Theresa Herman (Chas) of Naples, Cheryl Temple of Clinton and Linda Starr of Thomson, Illinois; and his cousin Sandy Shadle. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
