He was predeceased by: his daughter Valerie Schweitzer; his great grandchild Thorin; and his parents, William Schweitzer and Eva Schweitzer. He is survived by: his wife Margaret M. Schweitzer; his children, Jessica Johnsen (Marty), Arthur Schweitzer (Maureen) and Bryan Kroening (Chrissi); his grandchildren, Kearstin, Madison (Michael), Cody (Faith), Dakoda (Darian), Aaron, Arthur, Alex, Jazlyn, Bradley, Jillian, Gina (Anthony), Jimmy, John (Hannah) and David (Amy); his great grandchildren, Tatum, Quinn, Emma, Lucia, Mila and Noah; his close friend Bruce Huntley (Wanda); and his brother William Schweitzer (Mary).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Smits Funeral Home (2121 Pleasant Springs Ln, Dyer, IN 46311). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421).
