He was predeceased by : his parents, William Mitchell and Effie Mitchell (Butterfield); his sister Sara; and his grandsons, Steaven Lowry and Jared Mitchell.

He is survived by : his wife Myra Mitchell of Casey; and his children, John Mitchell (Donna) of Bristol, Daryl Mitchell (Cheryl) of Walterboro and Dawn Bonds (Billy) of Martinsville. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
