He was predeceased by: his father Vernon Matthews; and his mother-in-law Debra Jones. He is survived by: his mother Nancy Brown (Decher); his wife Crystal Matthews (Jones); his stepson Ethan Grace; his stepfather Jim Brown; his sisters, Anna Wright and Chrissy McGuire-Murillo (Patrick); his sister-in-law Sharon Brace (Brian); and his siblings' children, Isaac Gilkison, George McGuire-Murillo, Emma Gilkison, Trudie McGuire-Murillo, Emmaline Brace and Aralyn Brace.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Sunset Hill Funeral, Cemetery & Cremation Services (50 Fountain Dr, Glen Carbon, IL 62034).
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lymphoma Society (https://www.lls.org), Partners for Pets or the St. Louis University Hospital.
