It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Fernando Mendez of Troy, Illinois, who passed away on November 9, 2025, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Fernando may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Fernando touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his father Tomas Mendez; his grandparents, Arturo and Bernarda Zamudio; and his siblings, Carmen Hernandez and Alfonso Cavazos.
He is survived by: his parent Carmen Cavazos (Zamudio) of Brownsville, TX; and his siblings, Teresa Cavazos, Irma Cavazos and Ramon Cavazos, Jr..
A burial will be held on Friday, December 5th 2025 at 10:15 AM. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 5th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery (2900 Sheridan Rd, St. Louis, MO 63125).
