He was predeceased by: his parents, John Melton and Leona Long Melton; his siblings, James Melton, Jesse Melton, John "Buck" Melton, Jr. and Hazel Donahue; and his granddaughter Samantha Vazquez.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Melton; his children, Chad Melton and Cindy Vazquez (Javier); his grandchildren, Clayton Leach-Vazquez, Kelson Vazquez, Riley Vazquez, Summer Melton and Isabel Melton; and his brothers, Michael Melton, Gary Melton and Terry Melton.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Melton Fund at First Mid Bank.
