He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Ferrell and Rose Ferrell (Cameron); his parents-in-law, Ralph Shumaker and Jean Shumaker (Bibler); his nephew James D. Ferrell; and his brother Samuel Ferrell.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Ferrell (Shumaker) of Urbana; his daughter Elizabeth; his son-in-law Carl Anderson of Seattle, WA; his grandchildren, Lynn and Julia Anderson; his siblings, Rosella Ridings-Zastrow of Midland, MI, James Ferrell (Frances) of Orlando, FL, Faith Rutter of Jacksonville, FL, Stephen Ferrell (Dory) of Jacksonville, FL and Joy Strang (Stephen) of Lake Mary, FL; and his siblings-in-law, Kathy and James Brown of Champlin, MN. He is also survived by his neighbor's cats.
