He was also an exceptional volunteer, filling his 31-year retirement with countless hours worked at his church, with the local chapter of National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), as an advisor to a UIUC fraternity, with the Lion's Club, as an election judge, and through Champaign's Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
