He was predeceased by: his parents, John Maurice and Rita Sandwell (Gordon); his daughter Debby Young; his son-in-law Bryan Hart; and his brothers-in-law, Ed Bartell, Doug Strode, Dick Brownfield and Dan Schmidt.
He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Chris Sandwell of Champaign, Vickie Hart of Philo, Michele Kowalski (Brian) of Spring Grove, Lisa Withrow (Troy David) of Philo and Bill Campbell (Aubrey) of Lincoln; and his sisters, Judy Kay Brownfield of Urbana, Mary Jo Edmison of Monticello and Susan Schmidt of Philo. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church or the Danville VA.
