He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ward and Una Ward; his siblings, James Ward Jr. and Rosemary Ward; and his stepson Matthew Coe.
He is survived by: his wife Sheryl Ward; and his children, David Ward (Jaime Ward), Nate Ward, Adam Coe (Thomas Dubisky) and Jordan Coe Lauter (Aaron Lauter).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to National Public Radio (NPR), an organization he supported and enjoyed throughout his life.
