He is survived by: his wife Amy Heaford; his children, Calista Carey of Des Moines, Iowa, David "Trot" Carey of Utica, Piper Carey of Utica and Johanna "Joey" Carey of Marion, Iowa.; his father Jerry "Juice" Carey (Billie); his sister Danielle Balma (Ken); and his aunts and uncles, Carrie (Bob Senica), Cheryl (Chad Beavers), Brenda (Aaron Mini), Paula Carey (Jim Doherty), Mick (Lori Carey), Dava Hill Aussem, Pauline (Gary Hefner), Theresa (Jerry Schott) and Lori (Nort Stevens). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins and many friends.
