He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Klinefelter and Marion Klinefelter (Christofferson); his sister Marilynn Setchell; his brothers-in-law, Jack Kulpa and Clayton Frey; and his nephew Greg Frey.

He is survived by: his wife Joan Frey of Utica; his daughters, Tracy Kolczaski (Mark) of Burlington, WI., Wendy Olivero (Tom) of Utica and Marcie Holland (Jim) of Utica; his grandchildren, Jake, Ryan, Abby Kolczaski, Noah and Neil Olivero; his sisters, Joan Kulpa of Utica and Bonnie Klinefelter of New York, NY; and his siblings-in-law, Mary Margaret Frey, David Setchell and Chuck Frey (Margy). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
