He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Bowen and Genevieve Bowen (Bryant); his wife Cheryl Norine Gordon; his children, Jeffrey Gordon Bowen and Tracy Lynn Bowen; his brothers, Gerald Ray Bowen, Robert "Bob" Bowen and Jimmie "Jim" Bowen; and his in-laws, John and Trudy Gordon.

He is survived by: his daughter Sandra Jane Michel of Vandalia; his granddaughter Amy Gaffney (Neil Krutsinger); his siblings, Leon Bowen (Patricia) of Vandalia, Carole Guetersloh of Carlyle, Barbara Snyder of Bloomington, Sharon (Ron Thomason) of Vandalia and Susan (Steve Murfin) of Vernon; and his sister-in-law Ann Bowen of Keyesport. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family.
