We bid farewell to Jana Shafer of Vandalia, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on September 27, 2025 at the age of 54. Jana touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her mother Janet Kay McDowell (Cooper); her grandparents, Glenn "Pat", Julia McDowell, Don and Beatrice Cooper; and her pet Dozer.
She is survived by: her father Ronald McDowell of Vandalia; her husband Todd Shafer of Vandalia; her children, Lyndsay Doehring (Billy) of Vandalia, Adam Shafer of Vandalia and Tessa Gaffner (Nathan) of Smithboro; her siblings, Kimberly Frederick (Bill) of Washington, MO and Todd McDowell (Christi) of Vandalia; her mother-in-law Joan Siebert of Vandalia; her sister-in-law Carol Reeter of Robinson; her close friend Libby Williams of Vandalia; her grandchildren, Macy, Jaida, Aleigh, Zayden, Kynlea, Kaiden, Landen, Dawsyn, Liam, Lucas, Amelia and Waylen; and her great grandchildren, Dominic and Roamy.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Northside Christian Church (1845 Jackson St, Vandalia, IL 62471). A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family.
