Richard Chaplin Sr. Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard Chaplin Sr. of Vandalia, Illinois, who passed away on June 18, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Lester and Ruth Isabelle Chaplin (Seybert); his siblings, Donald Eugene Chaplin, Dale Edward Chaplin, Mary Louise Webb and Wilma Joyce Williams; and his grandchildren, Justin Chaplin and Tasha LeAnn Chaplin.
He is survived by: his wife Lila Chaplin of Vandalia; his children, Melinda "Sue" (David Denning) of Vandalia, Richard Lee Chaplin Jr. (Crystal) of Fredericktown, MO and Jarold Joseph Chaplin (Linda) of Watson; his sisters, Ruth Ann (Bill Cope) of Litchfield and Sandra Kay Dilley of Hillsboro; his grandchildren, Mike Chaplin, Catherine (Alex Ruebenacker), Richard Lee Chaplin III (Verenea), Daniel Chaplin, Joseph Chaplin and Cody Chaplin; and his great grandchild Evangeline. He is also survived by many step-grandchildren and step- great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 23rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Pana First Church of the Nazarene (1200 E 6th St, Pana, IL 62557). A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 23rd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight or to Got Your Six Support Dogs.
