It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Duane Hayes Sr. of Vergennes, Illinois, who passed away on April 19, 2026, at the age of 66, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Fern (Cook) and Fred Ruben Hayes, Sr.; his brother Mike Hayes; and his father-in-law Floyd Bruno. He is survived by: his wife Kimberly Kay Hayes (Higgerson) of Vergennes; his children, Michelle Schemonia (William) of Vergennes, Robert "Bobby" Hayes, Jr. (Beth) of Sandstone, Chad Pyron of Tamaroa and Chelsey Harris (Chris) of Du Quoin; his grandchildren, Andrew (Melissa), Joseph (Leigha), Jacob, Peyton, Jace, Aspen, Ayla, Kathleen, Alethea, Xavier, Neal (Maggie) and Erik (Kaitlin); his great grandchildren, Weston, Maggie, Addie, Kennedy, Zeke, Jack and George; his siblings, Fred Hayes, Jr. (Vicki) and Sue Lovin (Dan); his parents-in-law, Harry Higgerson (Martha) and Relda Marlow; and his sister-in-law Kandy Collins (Matt). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family members and cherished friends.
