He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse James and Mary Nancy Abner (Maines); his daughter Joanne Marie Abner; and his siblings, Hubert Lee Abner, Jess "Junior" Abner, Stanley Edgar Abner, Beulah Evelyn Davis, Mary Elizabeth Averitt, Minnie Marie Pedigo and Nettie "Gaye" O'Hair.
He is survived by: his wife Susan K. Marshall; his children, Diana Lynn Abner-Leggett of Vienna, Jeffrey Ray Abner of Morristown and Jennifer Ann Abner-Cavanah (Ryan) of White Pine, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Timothy Koval, Austin Abner, Matthew Koval, Koty Wilkins, Megan Abner, Breanna Abner-Bain (Noah), Brock Abner, Brenden Cavanah and Davis Cavanah; and his sister Virginia McBride (Jim Bob). He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
