He was predeceased by: his parents, Granville Smith and Thelma Smith (Clemons). He is survived by: his spouse Lavelda Phelps (Montana); his children, Patti Cave of Springfield, Steve Smith of Virginia, Ronnie Smith (Tacy) of Chandlerville, Jeff Smith (Jody) of Havana, Brad Smith (Tracy) of Elizabethtown, KY. and Val Sommer; and his pet Tinker. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many bonus children they accepted into their family.
