He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Hugh and Opal Ione Rathe (Carter); his wife Harriet Elaine Rathe; his daughter-in-law Crystal Rathe; and his siblings, Doug Rathe, Allan Rathe and Marge Henderson.

He is survived by: his sons, James Rathe of Nason, John Rathe of Waltonville and Chuck Rathe (Mary Ann) of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; and his grandchildren, Josh Ashley-Rathe (Caroline), Jessica Moore (Brennen), Katelyn Fisher (Dale), Brandon Rathe (Sondra) and Brittani Rathe (Levi). He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
