He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Thomas Alton Monigold and Phyllis Ann Monigold (Schult); his siblings, Beth Bangasser, Lisa Chodorowski (Mike), Diane Rafferty (Mike) and Mark Monigold (Becky Bretner); his wife Barbara Ann Monigold (Clay) of Dakota, Illinois.; his children, Tanya Jo (Nick DeJong), Benjamin Thomas (Jessie), Jason Alan (Emily), Justin David (Julie) and Kimberly Ann (Jake Kudlacik); his adoptive son Robert Lincoln (Deb); his son Jesse Burdette Monigold (Lindsey); his father-in-law Arthur Clay Jr.; and his siblings-in-law, Donna Lubbers (Clay), Jim DeMeester, Len Gray and Timothy Clay.

A memorial has been established for the children's Sunday school of Resurrection Lutheran Church of Monroe.
