He was predeceased by: his parents, Sydney Halpin and Ruth Halpin; his sisters, Margaret and Sheila Halpin; and his nephew Nicholas Halpin.

He is survived by: his wife Kathryn; his sons, Richard and James; his sisters, Catherine Hill (David) and Alexandra Gilmore (William); and his nieces and nephews, Desiree Pritchard, Alex Hill, Daniel Hill, Michael Hill (Kirstie), Kenneth Sweet, Tyler Sweet, Michael Sweet and Meghan Sweet.
